On March 18, 2015, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Stevo Mirjanić PhD had a meeting with representatives of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Banja Luka and the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of East Sarajevo as well as with representatives of the Agricultural Institute of the Republic of Srpska. The purpose of the meeting was to talk about a program for agricultural development of highland areas in the Republic of Srpska aimed at revitalization of unused potentials.
The creation of the program for agricultural development of highland areas is part of the Economic Policy for Development of the RS for 2015. Highland areas occupy the majority of the RS territory and specific agro-ecological and climate conditions prevail in such areas making them less favorable for certain types of agricultural production. On the other hand, these areas have potentials in view of land and forest resources and unused possibilities for sustainable development.
