On March 17, 2015 in Gradiška, ’Modern Fruit Storage Technology’ seminar was held. The seminar was organized by Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with Swiss programe for encouraging import into the EU and Swizerland with the aim to strengthen the export capacity of companies in the fruit and vegetables sector.
There were lectures on determining the moment of apple and pear harvest, preparing apples and pears for storage in cold storage facilities as well as lectures on possibilities of storing stone fruit such as plums, sweet cherries, and peaches and on types of cold storages.
On the territory of the RS there are low level oxidation cold storages with the capacity of about 25 000 tons.
Boris Tadić, the representative of Swiss program for encouraging import into the EU and Switzerland, pointed out that within this program a number of seminars for fruit growers were organized and two local companies attended one of the world’s biggest fresh fruit and vegetable fairs in Berlin.
Assistant Minister for providing professional services in agriculture, Dr. Boris Pašalić gave a lecture on fruit storing and reducing losses after harvest.
The seminar was held in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management- Regional Unit Gradiška.
