It was confirmed at today’s meeting between the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska Dr. Dane Malesevic and the president of the Network of Student Councils of the Republic of Srpska, Svetlana Borojevic, that the Ministry of Education and Culture supports the work of Student Councils in secondary schools.
This was an opportunity for Borojevic to inform Minister Malesevic of planned campaigns conducted by Student Councils. Some of the campaigns are: “Wake Up, Dare”, whose purpose is to encourage young people to take part in social processes more actively, and “One Sweet, One Child”, whose purpose is to help socially disadvantaged children. There are also activities they organize to choose the best student of the generation, the best Student Council, and other activities.
“Considering the fact that our records show a great amount of student absence from school, we will poll students in all secondary schools in order to find out what the real causes of students skipping classes are and to remove those causes“, said Borojevic.
The Network of Student Councils of the Republic of Srpska was established in order to support the fulfillment of students’ duties, rights, interests and needs.
“Student Councils should include secondary school students in the process of decision making in schools, as well as allow them to offer some advice to school managements to remove mistakes detected in the teaching process so that they could help improve the education process“, said the Minister.
