The Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, spoke today (06 March 2020) in his office with the newly appointed representative of the United Nations Population Fund to Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNFPA) John Kennedy Mosoti.
Minister Klokić emphasized the importance of previous cooperation with all UN agencies and in particular with UNPFA, which implements its programmes in cooperation with the competent institutions of the Republic of Srpska, respecting its developmental needs and its competencies.
One of the topics of the meeting was population policy, so Klokić briefed the UNPFA representative on the activities of the Government of the Republic of Srpska on the issue, including details of the Srpska's Demographic Recovery Programme, which proposes specific measures to address the problem of people leaving the Republic of Srpska and BiH.
They also discussed the UNFPA Programme for BiH 2021-2025, which will be an integral part of the United Nations Development Cooperation Framework for the same period. The program also represents the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and it will focus on supporting young people, mothers and children, and persons in the third age.
The interlocutors agreed that, in addition to the Demographic Recovery Programme, the competent institutions of the Republic of Srpska have quality and strategically important documents such as the Strategy for the Advancement of the Position of Elderly Persons in the Republic of Srpska, the Strategy for the Advancement of Sexual and Reproductive Health in the Republic of Srpska and Youth Policy and that there is willingness for support and cooperation on these and other issues between the UNFPA for BiH and the Ministry.
