Republic of Srpska Representatives Take Part in OECD Competitiveness Week within Preparation of the Competitiveness in South East Europe: A Policy Outlook 2018

Representative of the Ministry of Economic Relations and Regional Cooperation, in the capacity of RS coordinator for the South East Europe 2020 Strategy, and representative of the RS Institute of Statistics are taking part in workshops within the Competitiveness Week, organized by the OECD regional program from 3 to 5 July 2017, as part of the final activities on competitiveness assessment of six countries of South East Europe, to be published in a publication entitled ‘Competitiveness in South East Europe: A Policy Outlook 2018’.

After the first stage of data collection for the preparation of the above publication based on the objectives established in the South East Europe 2020 Strategy, which lasted from December 2016 to April 2017, and a stage of direct discussions and concertation of the initial OECD assessments at workshops held in the countries of the region during May 2017, within the Competitiveness Week, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss and analyze draft OECD analyses and regional recommendations for the 17 areas identified by the South East Europe 2020 Strategy, and while doing that to become acquainted with OECD tools and good practices of assessing key policies in the region.

The preparation of the second regional publication ‘Competitiveness in South East Europe: A Policy Outlook 2018’ is supported by the European Commission and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and it will be a significant source of information in designing, developing and implementing key policies of competent institutions. Also, this publication will be used by the European Commission in its assessments during the preparation of the opinion on BiH application for membership in the European Union. The previous competiveness review was prepared during 2015/2016, and OECD assessments will be based on the data and indicators collected both from the competent institutions (policymakers), and from the private sector, civil society representatives and certain regional organizations.​
