The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska and the Agency for certification, accreditation and quality improvement of health care (ASKVA) organized today, in Banja Luka, the final conference of the project "Support for the accreditation program of family medicine teams, certification of health centers and establishment of a system for monitoring the quality of primary health care ".
At the conference it was announced that the project was successfully implemented, and that all objectives were defined, among others, accreditation of 200 family medicine teams, certification of 20 health centers in the Republic of Srpska and establishment of the basis for the system of monitoring quality indicators in primary health care were also achieved.
In ten health centers in the Republic of Srpska (Derventa, Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Novi Grad, Laktaši, Zvornik, Prijedor, Čelinac, Kostajnica and Gradiška), a total of 200 family medicine teams were accredited, a process of evaluation in the certification process was completed in 20 health centers (Bijeljina, Doboj, Šamac, Laktaši, Teslić, Prijedor, Zvornik, Srbac, Istočno Sarajevo, Modriča, Novi Grad, Kostajnica, Trebinje, Čelinac, Banja Luka, Gradiška, Ljubinje, Trebinje, Mrkonjić Grad and Rogatica). In addition, 55 indicators of quality of work were defined by the family medicine teams.
On this occasion, the Director of the Agency for certification, accreditation and quality improvement of health care Dr. Siniša Stević presented the recognition for contribution to 20 health centers for improving safety and quality of health care in the Republic of Srpska.
The conference was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, Institute for Public Health of the Republic of Srpska, Agency for Quality and Accreditation of Healthcare in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the directors of health care centers, coordinators of quality in health centers and heads of department of family medicine.
The two-year project (2012/2014) was implemented as a part of the project "Strengthening the health sector" in order to improve quality and safety of health services at primary health care level, and it was conducted by the Agency for certification, accreditation and quality improvement of health care in the Republic of Srpska.
