A total of 1.5 billion BAM has been invested so far in the road infrastructure. From 2007 to 2012, more than 1,100 kilometers of highways and regional roads were rehabilitated.
After the completion of the works on 34 kilometers of the Gradiska- Banja Luka highway, the construction of the Banja Luka-Doboj, the Prnjavor- Doboj section, has started. Around 700 workers coming from Prijedor, Prnjavor, Doboj, Derventa and Banja Luka were engaged in these activities.
The permanent repair of the landslide in Cemerno on the M-2 regional road, financed by the Development Program in the amount of 73 million BAM, has been successfully implemented. The new tunnel on the M-5 regional road worth 17 million BAM is functional now.
The Railways of the Republic of Srpska currently have about 1,060 usable open wagons for the transportation of bulk cargo, which is sufficient for the transport of the cargo, but in the next period the purchase or repair of another 250 open wagons is planned.
The modernization of the Banja Luka-Doboj railway has been completed, and there are negotiations about the reconstruction of the railway from Banja Luka to Novi Grad and the border with the Republic of Croatia.
Two very important projects in pipeline will be implemented with Serbia and Croatia; one of them being the construction of the bridge on Drina River and the other the bridge on the Sava River in Gradiska.
European Commission provided the funds for the interstate Brod na Drini- Scepan Polje road with the interstate bridge with Montenegro.
