The Government of Republic of Srpska adopted today at its 59th session held in Banja Luka the Information on the Plan of Allocation of Funds for Implementation of the Program of Pre-school education for children prior to going to school.
Minister of Education and Culture Natalija Trivić stated that the program foresees that children of pre-school age would attend the education program prior to enrolling the first grade in areas where they were not able to attend preschool education programs for infrastructural or other reasons.
"This year a three-month preschool program will include 4,279 children which is around 45% of children who will start the school in September", Minister Trivić said and added that the funds for financing this program in the amount of 404.611 were provided by the Government of Republic of Srpska.
"It is important to note that drafting of the Amendments to the Law on Preschool Education is underway and would soon be sent to parliamentary procedure. The Government of the Republic of Srpska will provide that as of September 2020, all children with disabilities and children without parental care and in foster families will attend preschool facilities free of charge", Minister of Education and Culture emphasized.
Minister Trivić said that in cooperation with local communities new models will be sought this year to increase the number of children included in preschool education programs.
"The intention of the Government of Republic of Srpska and the Ministry of Education and Culture is to increase the number of children in these programs before school, every year, but also to expand the infrastructural capacities for pre-school education", Minister Trivić said and added that the Government of Republic of Srpska has been implementing this pre-school program since 2011.
