Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković and Federation of BiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić met in Doboj today (26 February 2020) to discuss the situation with regard to the coronavirus.
Prime Minister Višković said that the Governments of Republic of Srpska and the Federation of BiH were taking all necessary steps so that they could respond adequately to the possible emergence of the coronavirus in BiH.
"Today we have reviewed what the Republic of Srpska and the FBiH were doing and agreed on the next steps to be taken in coordinated manner should any case of corona virus occur in BiH, which cannot be excluded", Prime Minister Višković said.
Prime Minister Višković said that he was satisfied that the meeting in Doboj was attended by members of relevant teams and institutions of Republic of Srpska and Federation of BiH and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH in order to verify their needs and readiness for any possible case of coronavirus infection to be treated should it occur.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska pointed out that this virus could be controlled by adhering to the procedures prescribed by the health care bodies and added that only potential patients with more severe symptoms should be referred to clinical centers.
Prime Minister Višković further said that during the meeting they also discussed the procurement of safety equipment for health workers and how the entity Governments together with the Council of Ministers could proceed requesting that a number of travelers coming from countries affected by the coronavirus could be reduced.
Prime Minister Višković particularly stressed that it was necessary that media provide space to healthcare professionals in order to avoid panic among the population so that the people do not take some unnecessary or uncontrolled measures.
The meeting was also attended by RS Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić and Minister of Health of the Federation of BiH, Vjekoslav Mandić.
