Press Release following the 53rd Government session

​During its 53rd regular session, the Government of the Republic of Srpska decided that the minimum wage in the Republic of Srpska in 2020 shall be BAM 520.

Pursuant to Article 127 of the Labor Law, the minimum wage in the Republic of Srpska shall be determined by the Government of the Republic of Srpska following the proposal of the Socio-Economic Council in the last quarter of the current year.

If the Socio-Economic Council fails to make such proposal, the decision shall be made by the Government of the Republic of Srpska taking into account the economic growth, level of salaries and the standard of living in the Republic of Srpska.

The Socio-Economic Council of the Republic of Srpska has considered the issue of the minimum wage in the Republic of Srpska for 2020 in previous sessions several times but no consensus was reached and therefore the Government had to made the respective decision.

The Government of the Republic of Srpska issued a Decision approving funds for social welfare of workers in the amount of BAM 2,331,164.02 for payment of pension and disability insurance contributions for 988 workers from 19 companies which underwent bankruptcy procedure.

Since 2004 conclusive with 27 December 2019 as the result of implementation of the Social Welfare Program for Workers, a total of BAM 193,398,288.59 has been allocated from the Budget of the Republic of Srpska for that purpose.

Those funds have been used to pay pension and disability insurance contributions and unemployment insurance for 61,995 workers which companies were under bankruptcy. Following the Public Call, on the basis of individual contributions to the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, this Program enabled that more than seven and a half thousand workers whose companies stopped working in the process of privatization, bankruptcy and liquidation could exercise their right to the age pension.

The Government of the Republic of Srpska adopted the Information on the date of cessation of vaccination against classical swine fever.

The Government agreed to stop preventive vaccination Srpska against the classical swine fever in the Republic of Srpska on 31 December 2019 and in case the classical swine fever occurs again, it will provide funds for the possible damage and rehabilitation of the terrain.

The Government passed the Decision on approval of the Plan of Allocation of funds for primary schools for the period of January through December 2019 in total amount of BAM 65,000.00. 

The funds are allocated as follows: Primary School "Jovan Ducic", Šekovici for the rehabilitation of central heating - 20,000.00; Primary School "Sokolac", Sokolac for procurement of equipment - 6.500,00; Elementary school "Milos Dujic", Čelinac for procurement of computer equipment - 6.500,00; Primary School "Petar Mecava", Kostajnica for procurement of computer equipment - 6.500,00; Primary School "Veselin Masleša", Foča for procurement of computer equipment - 6.500,00; Primary school "Georgi Stojkov Rakovski", Banja Luka for procurement of computer equipment and school furniture - 6,000.00; Primary School "Holland", Slatina for procurement of computers and computer equipment  - 6,000.00 and primary school "Rade Marjanac", Machine, Šipovo for procurement of computer equipment - 7,000.00.

The Government also approved the Plan for allocation of funds of the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports for the period of January 1 to December 31 2019 in total amount of BAM 581.586,47.

The funds are allocated for the subsidy of the interest rate of housing loans for the young people and young couples in the amount of BAM 410,000.00, for financing projects and programs in accordance with the Law on Games of Chance in the amount of BAM 146,327.14, for current grants for national sports awards of the Republic Serbs in the amount of BAM 22,979.33 and for capital grants to youth and youth organizations in rural areas in the amount of BAM 2,280.00.
