The Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government of the Republika Srpska, Senka Jujić, is attending the 43rd session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and its working bodies, which will be held from October 24 to 27, 2022 in Strasbourg, France.
In addition to considering progress in the area of local self-government, and the implementation of the European Charter on Local Self-Government in the member states of the Council of Europe, some of the key topics that will be the subject of consideration and debate at the session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will refer to the election of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, challenges and chances of local self-government in the context of regional and cross-border cooperation, diaspora, hate speech and fake news and their impact on the working conditions of local authorities.
Also, draft recommendations on the right to the environment and sustainable development and the role of local authorities in that context will be considered.
The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities is a Council of Europe institution responsible for strengthening local and regional democracy in 47 member countries that gathers and represents more than 200,000 local and regional authorities.
