The continuation of negotiations on construction of HPP Dabar

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Željka Cvijanović, Deputy Prime Minister Srebrenka Golić and Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Petar Đokić spoke today in Banja Luka with General Manager of the Chinese company China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE) for South East Europe Tian Xuechen on implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on HPP Dabar.

At the meeting it was stated that, after the final and binding verdict in favor of the Republic of Srpska in a dispute regarding the approval of Environmental Study in HPP Dabar project, there were no more obstacles for the implementation of this energy project.

"There are activities ongoing on the construction of a tunnel of 11 kilometers, and negotiations with Chinese partners on the construction of facilities and procurement of electrical and mechanical equipment," said Minister Đokić adding that the company CWE is ready to mediate with the Chinese Exim Bank in securing funds for the project.

The Minister said that a letter clearly expressing the intention of the Government of the Republic of Srpska to accelerate the realization of that very important project for the Republic of Srpska would be submitted to the Chinese company in the coming days.

China International Water & Electric Corp. (CWE) is a leading energy company which participated in more than 800 important projects outside the People's Republic of China, including the world's​ largest hydropower plant Three Gorges with an installed capacity of 22000 MW.
