The Government of the Republic of Srpska will invest more than 30 million BAM in higher education and student welfare in Foča this year, Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Draga Mastilović PhD, said today.
Following the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the Simulation and Administrative Centre of the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, the Minister said that the Government of the Republic of Srpska would allocate more than 4.8 million BAM for the construction of the centre, while the Faculty would provide 2 million BAM from its own funds.
Minister Mastilović stressed that the Faculty of Medicine in Foča, with more than 2,500 students from 40 countries and its dedicated work, had earned the attention and support of the Ministry and the Government of the Republic of Srpska.
He said that, once completed and operational, the new facility would significantly improve working conditions for staff as well as training conditions for students of the Faculty of Medicine.
"The Government insisted that this project should get under way as soon as possible and today we had the pleasure of officially starting the works," the Minister told reporters.
The Minister praised the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dejan Bokanjić, and his team, as well as the Rector of the University of Istočno Sarajevo, Milan Kulić, noting that through their dedicated work they were raising the standard of higher education in this part of the Republic of Srpska.
Mastilović announced that work on a new student centre in Foča was also expected to begin soon, with more than 25 million BAM already secured for the project.
"If we take into account this Simulation and Administrative Centre, it means that the Government of the Republic of Srpska, led by Prime Minister Savo Minić, has invested more than 30 million BAM in higher education and student welfare in Foča in this year alone," Mastilović said.
He said these were good examples of investment, stressing that both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, as well as Foča itself, deserved such investment.
