The Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Srpska, Đorđe Popović, and the Mayor of Bijeljina, Mićo Mićić, signed the agreement on the transfer of ownership and possession rights to real properties in Bijeljina, for construction of the new railway and bus station in the City of Bijeljina.
Mr. Popović said that the activities have began in 2016, when the decision was made at the joint session of the Governments of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia to transfer the ownership and possession of real properties from the "Railways of Serbia" over to the Republic of Srpska.
He pointed out that this project will be of great importance for the City of Bijeljina, but also for the Republic of Srpska, and that in addition to the construction of a modern bus station and relocation of the railway track, this project would also call for the future construction of the new railway station at a new location.
Financing of the construction of the railway station will be responsibility of the City of Bijeljina, which stems from the agreement, and the railway track must be relocated first.
Mr. Mićić thanked the Government of the Republic of Srpska and the line Ministry, and he stressed that this project will be of great importance for the City of Bijeljina, as a modern bus station will be situated in the place of the railway station, and the buses will access it directly from the bypass road without burdening the city center.
