Prime Minister of Republic of Srpska Savo Minić met in Belgrade today with Prime
Minister of the Republic of Serbia Đuro Macut.
During the meeting, numerous topics of mutual interest
were discussed with special emphasis on joint infrastructure projects and further advancement of relations between Republic of Srpska and Serbia.
Prime Minister Minić stated that they discussed introduction of a daily flight on the Banja Luka - Belgrade line in
order to avoid problems that arose after implementation of the new rules
for entering the EU. In addition, they analyzed the test runing of the joint toll collection system on highways.
"In every aspect, this was one of most substantive
meetings we have had so far", Prime Minister Minić said and added that he and
Prime Minister Macut also discussed a project of building a joint memorial complex to Jasenovac victims in Donja Gradina.
Also they spoke about the current status of the joint project on building an airport in Trebinje. As stated,
another 200 hectares of land need to be expropriated for the future airport,
while the main design should be developed within two months.
Prime Minister of Serbia Đuro Macut stated after the
meeting that they also discussed the project of building a railway line between Mokra Gora and Višegrad and the associated
border crossing and expressed expectation that this project currently under
development will be completed this year.
"At the same time, we discussed ways to expand cooperation in the field of education and science, in
other words, to integrate Srpska into the scientific world of Serbia", Prime Minister Macut said.
With regard to the request for the release of
General Ratko Mladić, Prime Minister Minić said that Republic of Srpska, together
with Serbia, will respond to international organizations in order to enable that Mladić receives medical treatment in Serbia.
He said that the situation regarding General Mladić was monitored daily and stressed that it became clear that detention
hospital in The Hague did not correspond to his health condition and
represented revenge or torture.
"I think this is unacceptable, especially since we
have heard that medical care and assistance were not adequate. This represents
a violation of basic human norms", Prime Minister Minić said and added that Republic of Srpska,
like Serbia, could provide guarantees and address institutions and
establishments.
He stated that the Hague Tribunal has lost
credibility, but that the desire remains, when it comes to Serbs, for everyone
to be tried according to the strictest possible rules and respecting all
possible international norms.
In addition to Prime Ministers Minić and Macut, the
meeting was attended by the Ministers of Justice of Republic of Srpska and
Serbia, Goran Selak and Nenad Vujić, as well as the Minister of Transport and
Communications of Republic of Srpska, Zoran Stevanović and the Minister of
Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, Aleksandra Sofronijević.
It has been agreed that the Governments of Republic of Srpska and Serbia will meet every month
in the future and the next meeting is scheduled for 23 May in Trebinje.
